  1. @Keyboarder7 The kindle is an Ereader first and foremost. I think your disappointment is mostly your fault

  2. @Keyboarder7 Hi! I’m considering to buy the Kindle 3 just for the same reason (that is: reading tons of academic pdf I have stored in my Mac). What’s the problem exactly? tnx for the help! :D

  3. @TheeBookReader Thanks for advice !

  4. Yeah, he sounds like he’s on the verge of dying right there ;-)

  5. I wish this guy would speak clearly…..

  6. Thanks you this was really helpful

  7. I bought the kindle primarily for all the pdf files for college readings. so far it is pretty disappointing.

  8. thank you for this great review. I have a question, my pdf files come up very small on the kindle. Converted in kindle format they are not even readible. In pdf format you can zoom and pan but it is very cumbersome. I read in landcape view and make the contrast as dark as possible but they still come up very hard to read. Is there something I can do? I am wondering if there is something I can do with OCR?

  9. very helpful video!
    Thank you very much!

  10. Very helpful! Thanks!

  11. @TheeBookReader thnx for the fast reply, ill watch ur video to see how good pdf looks on kindle, i might buy one, in case pdf don’t look good enought for me, is there any way to convert pdf to kindle format?

  12. @jonager13 As long as it doesn’t have DRM.

  13. @TheNoether Sony’s ereaders can do that, but only the 950 can browse the web and it’s not do out until November. The Neo can too and so can the Onyx Boox 60 (they are the same). PocketBook is about to release 6 inch and 9 inch devices next month that will have that functionality as well.

  14. so i can put any pdf file like a book in pdf format into the kindle 3 just fine?

  15. @TheeBookReader Thank you for the quick reply , as I said before I would love to open the embedded pdfs and draw or hand write annotations on them, Can you suggest me any ereader that can let me do this? it seems BeBook Neo is capable of this but I am not entirely sure and it it pretty expensive @300$

  16. @TheNoether I thought that the Kindle would be able to download a PDF since it supports that format, but I tried downloading one and it wouldn’t open it, saying that it can only download AZW, TXT, MOBI, and PRC files with the browser.

  17. Excellent review! answered almost all my questions, but I have one more, Can the kindle web browser open pdf files embedded in the websites, as my profs post lecture notes online so can I be able to open them directly from kindle browser instead of downloading them to PC first and then transferring to kindle. Thank you very much!!

  18. @mrshustad Or not. Look for a program called calibre

  19. @mrshustad There’s a few different options. Check my website and look for Kindle format conversion guide. The link is in the main navigation toward the bottom on the left side.

  20. Where can you convert the PDFs to the Kindle ebook reader style?

  21. @Asya22 I see what you’re saying, because it is essentially an image. Good question. I went ahead and tried a scanned PDF and surprisingly everything worked, notes, highlights, dictionary, text darken. Some of the pages were crooked too; it didn’t matter.

You can email me a sample of yours just to make sure it’ll work if you want.

  22. Hi, thanks for your quick answer! Of course I watched the video, I am just unclear as to how I would be able to add notes to a scanned file since the way I see it the kindle won’t be able to ‘read’ it properly, especially if the scan is crooked, for example.

  23. @Asya22 The Kindle 3′s contrast darken feature would come in handy for those scanned PDFs. And yes you would be able to add highlights and notes. Er . . you did watch the video, right?

  24. Thanks. I have one question: as a university student I often get articles to read which are uploaded as pdf’s, however many times they are scanned from paper, and not a perfect, clear pdf file. Would I still be able to read those well enough on the new Kindle? I’m sure I wouldn’t be able to highlight or add notes, but I would settle for just reading. I am really conflicted about whether I should get it or not, for this purpose.

  25. thanks man.. you helped me choose it. :)
Very informative … even you didn’t miss the comics part :)
